Admissions Process


Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. We want to help you ensure that you find the “right fit”.  Before applying, please feel free to contact us to obtain further information, learn about upcoming events, book a tour of the school, or to schedule a meeting.

2021/2022 Enrollment 

We are beginning to accept applications for new enrolments for the 2021/2022 academic year. Some grade levels are currently projected to be at or near capacity for next year. We encourage prospective families to initiate the application process as soon as possible. This will ensure adequate time for us to answer your questions, review the application forms and schedule a class visit (or appropriate alternative arrangement) prior to the end of May 2021.

1. Contact Us

Please feel free to contact us with your initial questions and to obtain information about our programs. While face-to-face meetings and in person tours are our preference, at present we will respond to your inquiries in a manner that best suits the needs of you and your family, and adheres to current public health mandates. 

2. Initiate Application Process

Once you have decided that Shambhala School is a good fit for your family, download the applicable application and recommendation forms at the bottom of this page.

3. Submit Application

Complete and submit the Application Form and supporting documents to our Head of Admissions, Margot Louise at mlouise@shambhalaschool.org. Application forms for Grade 1 through to Grade 12 enrollment should be accompanied by a Student Recommendation Form and Report Cards for the current year and one previous year.

4. Pay Application Fee

After our initial review of each application, we will ask you to submit the $125 non-refundable application fee and the completed Teacher Recommendation Form.

5. Visit Classroom

With COVID numbers low in Nova Scotia, modified classroom visits are possible in most cases. We will discuss options for classroom visits with you when you are ready for that step.

6. Notification of Acceptance

Within two weeks of the classroom visit (or alternative arrangement), we will notify you of the classroom teacher’s recommendation for acceptance.

7. Submit Deposit 

A non-refundable deposit representing one monthly tuition payment is required within 14 days of acceptance to hold the child’s place in class. 

8. Submit Registration

Registration arrangements and signed financial contracts for new enrolments are due within two weeks of acceptance.

9. Register for our Before and After School Program

If you are registering a student in Pre-Primary to Grade 5 and are interested in our Before or After School Program, please refer to the separate fee schedule. Deadline for enrollment in our Before and After School Program is August 1, 2021, however we welcome early enrollment.
