Admissions Events

KEY DATES FOR THE 2021/2022 ENROLLMENT PERIOD

We are here to support your admissions questions and process and are accepting applications for new enrollments for the 2021/2022 academic year. Based on current enrollment levels, we are at or near capacity for certain grade levels. We encourage prospective families to initiate the application process as soon as possible.

The Shambhala School has Covid-19 protocols in place for in-class learning during 2020/2021 and a plan to switch to distance learning  should the Province mandate school closures. This distance learning plan builds on our experience from the Spring of 2020 and includes developmentally appropriate offerings for students in Primary to Grade 12.

Meetings and Student Visits

One of the best ways to get the feel of our school and have your questions answered is to arrange a personal meeting with one of our admissions directors, and a student visit. We are able to meet with families in person or virtually.  Once a family decides to move forward with an application we will discuss appropriate arrangements for a student visit.

Pre-Primary

Please contact Ms. Leah Noonan, Head Teacher of our Pre-Primary program.

Primary – Grade 12

Please contact Ms. Margot Louise, Head of Admissions for Elementary and Upper School.

Calm and Compassionate:
Mindfulness for Parents
Two online sessions- free and open to all

This global crisis we are all living through is intense. Feelings of isolation, stress, fear, boredom, and confusion are bubbling up for all of us. Mindfulness practices are a way to reconnect with our natural well-being so that we can tap into deeper reservoirs of calm and compassion in the midst of it all. Now more than ever, how we are and how we relate to ourselves affects our children directly. Our state of mind, our emotions, and our way of relating to everything that arises is inseparable from our parenting. Nurturing ourselves by taking the time to care for our state of mind also nurtures our family.

In these sessions, Noel McLellan will guide us through simple practices for bringing our awareness into the present and opening our hearts with ourselves and with our children. Noel McLellan is the Shambhala School’s Dean of Mindfulness and Contemplative practices, and author of Teaching with Bravery: Meditation and Heart Advice for Teachers. He leads mindfulness classes for grade 4-12 students at the Shambhala School, and has been practicing and teaching meditation for over 30 years. For those of you with students at Shambhala School in grades 4-12, these will be the same or similar to practices Noel has introduced to your children this year (a chance for you to catch up!)

No experience is necessary and both sessions are open to all. No charge.

Session 1: Calming the Mind and Body – Monday, April 27th, 2020, 8:00pm

Session 2: Opening the Heart – Monday, May 4th, 2020, 8:00pm
