Before and After School Program


The Shambhala School offers a Before and After School Program for students in Pre-Primary through to Grade 5. Pre-Primary participation in the Before and After School Program is included in their 2024/2025 tuition fees.

Space in the program is limited, so families of students Primary to Grade 5 are encouraged to reserve their spot at soon as possible upon the launch of registration for the program. Annual enrollment for 2024/2025 will take place in August, 2024.

THE BEFORE And AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM Staff

Abbey Thornhill is the Director of the Before and After School Program for 2024/2025. Our Before and After School team consists of 

  • Abbey, Nicole – members of our Pre-Primary team
  • Hermoine and Sarah, – team members with multiple years of Neptune Theatre Camp experience and two years of experience with Shambhala School
  • Ruth –  a member of the Shambhala School Graduating class of 2023

Before School is staffed by Nicole for the littles and Ruth and Abbey  (alternating weeks) for the older students.

After School is staffed by Abbey, Sarah, and Hermoine. We have a couple of dedicated additional members of our Before and After School team that help out as needed, ensuring comfort and consistency for our students.

The Before School Program

The Before School Program runs from 8:00am to 8:40am.

The After School Program

The After School Program runs from 3:00pm to 5:15pm. Students have an opportunity to enjoy snacks (brought from home), creative play, stories, arts and crafts, and outdoor play. 

The 2024//2025 Annual Fees for the After School Program are:

In-Service and Parent/Teacher Interview Days

There are three school terms at the Shambhala School. During each term we usually schedule one Professional Development Day and one Report Writing Day. In addition, there are Parent/Teacher Interview Days. Please check the school calendar for exact dates. There are no regular classes on these days but we do offer a child care program for children in grades Pre Primary to grade 5.

Child Care Days for the 2024-25 school year are as follows, and registration is open: 

  • Thursday, October 24- Parent/Teacher Meetings
  • Friday, October 25- Provincial PD Day
  • Monday, December 2- Report Writing Day
  • Monday, Decmber 16- Parent/Teacher Meetings
  • Tuesday, February 18- PD Day
  • Friday, February 28- Report Writing Day
  • Friday, April 11- Parent/Teacher Meetings
  • Friday, May 9- PD Day
  • Friday, June 6- Report Writing Day

The camps are for students in grades Pre Primary through 5. Drop off time will be 8:00 am, and pick up time will be 4:30 pm. All payments must be received before the camp takes place. Spaces are limited, so register your child early by replying to the email sent out from reception. 

Children participating in the camps will need to bring a packed lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, and a personal water bottle. All items should be labeled with your child’s name. The children will be going outside to play, so they should be dressed appropriately for the weather.


Enrollment Process  

Mid-year enrollment – If you are interested in enrolling in our before and after school program please let our office know. We will check to ensure if there is room left in our programs, and then proceed to walk you through the necessary steps to register your child.

Annual enrolment takes place in the summer. Please keep an eye out for the associated email. Please note that we have a limited number of spaces, so it will be first come, first served.
